Trinidad and Tobago’s Andrews injured
Trinidad and Tobago’s defender Marvin Andrews will not play in their first match at the World Cup against Sweden because of injury.
“Marvin Andrews is injured and for sure he will not make it for (Saturday),” said coach Leo Beenhakker at a media conference on Friday.
“The rest are fit and in good shape and are looking forward to start the tournament.”
Beenhakker would not be drawn on who would replace Andrews.
England are favourites to top the group, with Sweden and Paraguay expected to battle it out for second place.
“It is clear we are the underdogs,” he said. “But in 2002, France and Argentina went out in the first round.”
Beenhakker said his players were fully focused on the Sweden tie and not a glamour game against England on June 15.
“The most important match of your career is your next match,” he said. “So we are not focused on England at all.”
