Ghana wins warm-up against South Korea
I have to say that I didn’t expect this kind of result. I didn’t think of Ghana as a real contender, but they might be more than that.
Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien steered Ghana to a 3-1 FIFA World Cup™ warm-up victory over fellow finalists Korea Republic on Sunday.
Korea Republic, at almost full strength compared to the reserve side that drew 0-0 with Norway on Thursday, went behind in the 35th minute when Gyan converted a penalty after Kim Jin-Kyu handled in the box.
“Attack, midfield, defence, there wasn’t a single good point tonight,” said the Koreans’ Dutch coach Dick Advocaat. “Game by game our team play has been getting worse and that is very disappointing.”
The Koreans launch their FIFA World Cup challenge against Group G opponents Togo in Frankfurt on 13 June. Ghana begin their campaign against Group E rivals Italy in Hanover on 12 June.
