Brazil is starting to show what they are made of, but Ghana will leave a good impression on everyone’s mind.

ZE ROBERTO (BRA), Budweiser Man of the Match
It’s an amazing feeling to have scored my first ever World Cup goal. I’m also really pleased to have been chosen as Man of the Match for the second time, and I’m even happier that we’re through to the quarter-finals. The dream is still alive. One thing we struggled with today was keeping possession, but it’s not the first game where our opponents have had more of the ball than us. One of the reasons that happened was because we went in front early and they had to chase the game. We are ready for any opponent, whether it be France or Spain. You can’t choose your opposition at the World Cup.

RONALDO (BRA)
How do you make history? It takes a lot of hard work, it’s not easy. You need to make a lot of sacrifices and put in a lot of hard graft. This is the reward for my efforts over a number of years. What are my objectives from this point on? I want more, more, more! I want to keep scoring goals because I’ve still got plenty more to give. I want to keep scoring a lot of goals. I’ve been given a lot during my life, but only those people with something to give can expect to receive. I’d love to be in Brazil at the moment to witness what I’m sure is a huge party. I’m happy because the team’s going well, playing good football and scoring goals.

KAKA (BRA)
I played well today and we are beginning to move the ball around midfield very well. But we still need to improve; we can do better than we are doing at the moment.

GILBERTO (BRA)
We will continue to work and improve as a team. We have to do this. Overall we played a good game and I was happy to see Adriano get on the scoresheet. This is a good thing for the team.

JUNINHO PERNAMBUCANO (BRA)
Whether we play Spain or France the quarter-final is going to be very tough for us. I am always available and I would be thrilled to play a part in this game.

GILBERTO SILVA (BRA)
It is crucial to play a hard game in the quarters and I think we can do this and show that we are a strong team. We are getting better with each game, but we can still play better than this.

ROBERTO CARLOS (BRA)
For us it is thrilling to keep moving forward in the tournament. Look at Switzerland – they didn’t lose a game but they are going home now. I don’t think it matters who we play in the quarters (Spain or France), it will be a great game. Ghana played very well today and they have some great players – it was a tough day for us.

CAFU (BRA)
We are making fewer and fewer mistakes in every game. I think that the team is playing better with every game and now we have to play like the favourites that people see us as.

Stephan APPIAH (GHA)
We need to focus on the next African Cup of Nations and hopefully in the next World Cup in South Africa four years from now, we will be ready to go.

John PANTSIL (GHA)
Brazil were very good. But we were good as well. The early goals were the critical factor in the game. The more we went forward the more we were left open at the back.

Eric ADDO (GHA)
Brazil were a little bit better and they played very well. They waited for us to come and hit us on the break very well. It was unfortunate that the second goal was given as I thought it was offside.

Matthew AMOAH (GHA)
I am very happy to have represented Africa and proved that we can play football as well as anyone in Africa. To play well is not the most important thing, you have to score and win as well.

John MENSAH (GHA)
It was a very good game for us today. We played well, but we were unable to score. And in football you are not forgiven for failing to score. You can’t play well, not score and expect to win games. If we had made it 1-1 it would have been a different story, but we didn’t.

Derek BOATENG (GHA)
We need to score more goals. In the end, if you don’t score you will be scored against and you can’t win this way.

Sulley MUNTARI (GHA)
Maybe the referee was a little too quick to bring his cards out today. This was a problem for us because when we tried to impose ourselves in midfield, we couldn’t tackle without worrying about getting a yellow or a red card.

Michael ESSIEN (GHA)
In the future we need to prove that we can not only play football well, but we can also play with smart tactics. And if we have three chances on goal we have to score at least one. This is the future for Ghana and we have to achieve this goal.
