Czech Republic’s Poborsky retires
One of the players that made history for the Czechs is, without a doubt, Karel Poborsky.
“The national team is a closed chapter to me,” the 34-year-old told Czech Television. “Now I am only a fan.”
The 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany marked the final appearance on the international stage for the most capped Czech player, with 118 senior appearances.
He scored the first of his eight goals for the national team with a memorable chip against Portugal in the UEFA EURO 1996 Championship quarter-finals.
