Argentina’s Figueroa to miss World Cup
Argentina striker Luciano Figueroa has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a serious knee injury.
Even if you hoped the other day that no more players would miss the World Cup, it seems we are not so lucky.
Figueroa, who was on the fringes of the Argentine squad, limped off during River Plate’s 3-1 win over Estudiantes on Sunday (Monday AEDT) in the Clausura championship.
Team doctor Luis Seveso told reporters the former Birmingham City and Villarreal player had suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee and would be operated on next week.
