USA takes on Norway in January
First time I saw the title of the news I was like: what? Isn’t Norway supposed to play the playoffs this week? So, don’t worry, the match against USA is in January, the 29th, to be more exact.
The match will be part of a month training session to start for the US team on the 4th of January 2006. It really seems like the US team wishes to go past the quarter-finals they reached in 2002. And, since they won their CONCACAF qualifying group for the first time in their history, why not make it history again?
In my opinion, the American people is a very competitive one and football (soccer) is the only sport they didn’t have anything to say to this date. Will they be able to break thorugh European and South-American monopoly? That remains to be seen.
More on the match with Norway: this is the fourth meeting between the two teams, the first taking place in 1916. Yes, it is right, 1916. The US had a soccer team back then??? This is too weird. Both teams won a game and they draw in 2 games. You can watch the game on ESPN 2 or, better, go and see it.
