Surprisingly, Puma sponsors more teams than either Nike or Adidas, their rivals in the market of sportswear. This is especially surprising since Adidas are the official sponsors of the World Cup 2006.

One answer may come with the fact that Africa is a strong base for Puma, four teams out of five on this continent (Tunisia, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Togo) being under contract with them. More, Italy, Poland, Paraguay, Iran and Saudi Arabia are dressed by them. That is 9 teams. Add Czech Republic and Switzerland, just qualified, on that list and you have 11 teams for Puma.

Nike has 8 teams and Adidas just 6.
