Italy’s Lippi asks for more squad meeting prior to World Cup finals
Lippi, Italy’s national squad coach, feels that he needs more time with the players to prepare for the World Cup. And, as a consequence:
”I’d like it if there was the possibility to organise at least a couple of training sessions,” Lippi told a meeting of Serie A coaches near Florence on Monday.
“I’ve got two dates in mind — the first week of January when, after the Christmas break, there aren’t any European fixtures, and then the first week of May,” said Lippi.
More, he said that 3 friendly matches prior to the World Cup finals won’t do, especially since the expectations are great, as always, for the Italian national squad.
They have two friendly matches the weeks to come, one against Netherlands, on Saturday, and then on Wednesday, with Ivory Coast.
