Hiddink to plan strategy for Australia

SOCCEROOS coach Guus Hiddink has met soccer bosses to map out Australia’s World Cup preparation for the next six months.

Though the calendar for FIFA friendly matches is quite scarce until the World Cup in Germany, Australia might have a chance because of the 2 qualifying matches for the Asian Cup.

Australia’s schedule for the next six months includes two Asian Cup qualifying matches in February and March, a game against European champion Greece in Australia in May, and a possible World Cup warm-up against Hiddink’s native Holland in June.

Among the matches that might be played before the World Cup are one against Greece and one against Holland. Here is a schedule for the months to come:

FEBRUARY-MARCH Three Asian Cup qualifying matches

MAY 27 Australia v Greece, TBC

MAY 30: Australia v TBC, home

JUNE 3: Australia v Holland, TBC

JUNE 6: Australia v TBC

JUNE 9-JULY 9: FIFA World Cup finals, Germany
